"Scouting for Jesus" When Jesus takes a prayer break from teaching, healing, and casting out demons, the disciples go scouting for him, saying "Everyone is looking for you!" Why? They had some temporary, earthly healing. Time for Jesus to move on, then, and dispense that which He came to bring: Preaching! A Sermon! Useless to so many ears, but that which the ears of the weary and heavy laden need to hear more than anything else: The good news of salvation by grace, through faith, on account of Jesus' sacrifice alone.
Jan 22, 2012 Sermon - "Walking Down the Aisle with Jesus" When Jesus calls to His disciples, "Follow Me," He is calling them to a radical - from the roots - transformation of their priorities. It is the same transformation man and wife undergo when they separate from their families of origin to begin a new life together. Using the marriage illustration from the history of God's people - not His people - and then again His people, we see how our marriage into Christ forms our lives as disciples - followers - of Jesus, submitting to Him who gave Himself up for us all.
Second of three Advent Midweek Sermons focusing on our church's three-fold emphasis, "Witness, Mercy, Life Together." Based on Mark 10:45, "The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many," we learn our "Mercy" for others comes from the heart of God, through us, and only then out to others. Mercy, then is caring for our neighbor in concrete and effective ways because of what God through Christ has done for them - and for us!
Sorry about the delay in postings lately. Just behind in the editing room. Today's message combines our Advent review of the Ten Commandments (esp. 4-7) with the Gospel from St. Mark concerning John the Baptist's preaching of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Learn how to go from hearing "No! No! Bad dog!" to hearing the blessed "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" from the Lord. Hint: It's not in your hands, but the Lord's.

125th Anniversary - Rev Reimnitz Part 1
Rev. Wes Reimnitz shares the family life of his day at Zion as he encourages our family of today to keep on writing the future chapters "Steadfast in Thy Word." Part one of two.
Like living stones, you and I are being built into the Church of Christ. On the occasion of our 125th Anniversary, our District President Russell Sommerfeld shares with us the Word of God from 1 Peter 2:10-14.
Built on the Rock - So if we are founded on such a strong rock as Jesus Christ as the Son of God through whom we are saved, why do we act in public as if our faith were founded on marshmallows? Why are we so afraid to make the good confession as did Peter, "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God?" Take heart! The message is for you and all who will believe.
Our "Son of the Congregation" Pastor Bob Deardoff shares with us what a treasure we have in Zion. . . perhaps not the treasure that first comes to mind! Listen, absorb, enjoy and apply his wonderful message.
Do words fail you when it comes to prayer? Do you wonder whether or not you're saying the right thing? St. Paul assures us that the Holy Spirit Himself intercedes for us with "Groanings too deep for words." Such an assurance to us whenever we come to God in prayer!
"Just the Latest Branch." Another in the series of Zion's 125th Anniversary messages, this sermon reviews the role of Pastor as undershepherd of Jesus Christ, the True Vine. Coincidentally, this is also the 20th Anniversary of Pastor Schmitt's Ordination into the office of the Holy Ministry.
