Welcome To Zion Lutheran Church
The Mission of Zion Lutheran Church is to reach out to the community as we embrace our fellow members, building on the strength of our heritage in the true Word of God. To this end, Zion's members see themselves as loving Christians called by God to serve Him according to His purpose.
Be sure to take the picture tour of our church and see the activities of our Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Ziggy (Zion's Inspired Group of God's Youth).

Labor Day Devotional
In observance of Labor Day, LCMS Worship Director William Weedon offers this devotional:
The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it (Gen. 2:15 ESV).
In our fallen state of mind we are always tempted to think of work as a consequence of that fall. But Scripture reveals to our shock that God created us to work—even in Paradise there was work for Adam to do! It was a holy and blessed thing; a joyful task to accomplish in the presence of God, for His glory, and for the good of his family and himself. So then, not work per se, but the frustration of work at times not bearing fruit is a result of the fall:
Thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return (Gen. 3:18-19 ESV).

Sew Blessed to Bless Others
The "Sew" Blessed Quilters at Zion have been busy creating beautiful, handmade quilts for Orphan Grain Train. Several of their 73 gorgeous items were displayed on the pews of Zion on August 23 and 24, 2014. They were then taken to the Orphan Grain Train booth at the Nebraska State Fair that week for display.
Correction: The Quilters meet throughout the year in the Fellowship Hall to make quilts for charity. They would enjoy having anyone who would like join in -- no experience necessary. They will meet again on Tuesday, August 26, 10 am - 3 pm (bring a lunch). Other dates in 2014 are: September 9 and 23; October 14 and 28; November 11 and 25; and December 16.
The group will also provide fellowship coffee on Sunday, August 31.
The Quilters accept all donations of cotton fabric, sheets and thread.

Thanks and Godspeed to Pastor Greunke
Zion members turned out Sunday, August 10, 2014, to bid farewell to Pastor Martin Greunke and his wife, Yvonne, at a luncheon in the Lakeview Room. Pastor Greunke had served Zion for nearly a year as vacancy pastor. The congregation expressed hearty thanks and wished them well where God would have them serve next. Pastor Greunke spoke briefly (yes, briefly!) in reciprocal thanks.
The couple had recently returned from a vacation cruise, and look forward to more adventures in semi-retirement.
