Women's Bible Study

The women's Bible Study will resume on Monday, Sept 13 at 6:30 PM at the church.  All women are invited to attend - bring friends/neighbors.  We will be reading and watching clips from the book, "Crazy Love:  Overwhelmed by a Relentless God".  Books are $9 and can be purchased through the church office.

Faith and Family Night at Rosenblatt Stadium

Join Zion and Walking Together Lutheran Ministries for Faith and Family Night at Rosenblatt Stadium on Saturday, August 7. Fun pre-game activities at the entrance! Game starts 6:35 Omaha Royals v. Portland Beavers in one of the last games at The Blatt!!!! Seats are lower reserved area, assigned seats. $4 per seat!! For each ticket you purchase, you will receive a free ticket to invite an unchurched friend, relative, co-worker, etc. This is an outreach event, so please invite your friends. Following the game, stay for fireworks, then a Christian music concert in the parking lot, featuring Rebecca St. James.

Bible Classes

There are currently two Adult Bible Classes at 9:30 AM on Sundays

Lakeview Room:
Come join us in the Lakeview Room for Lutheran Boot camp!  We will examine what it means to be a Lutheran Christian and cover the essential doctrines and practices related to our Confessions.  Topics include: the Solas, Luther's Seal, Creeds, Justification/Sanctification, Elements of Divine Worship, Means of Grace, Reformation History, Book of Concord, Law & Gospel, and the Church.  We invite all good soldiers of Christ to learn the essentials of our faith and report to the Lakeview Room at 0930!

Multi-purpose Room:
Ever wonder how a ragtag band of 82 disciples became the greatest single statistical event of history - the Christian Church? Pastor Schmitt leads this discussion study as we view Paul Maier's video tour of history in the in the Multi-purpose room

Work Day for Picnic Area

One of the Boy Scouts from Troop 412 is doing an Eagle Scout Project for the church on Saturday, June 19. The project will  consist of preparing and making of a picnic area on the west side of the church and constructing picnic tables for it. He would appreciate anybody who is willing to give up their time to help. This will begin at 9 AM on June 19, 2010. A sign up sheet will be available to see who will be coming. Refreshments and lunch will be provided. If you have any questions please contact the church office.

Summer Sunday School Teachers Needed

Volunteers are needed to teach for Summer Sunday School. Teach one week, teach one month, teach all summer, it is up to you. Classes are PK2-K & 1st-4th Grades.  Contact Andrea to see how you can help (493-1744).
 

125th Anniversary Cookbook

The time has come! Enclosed is the Recipe Collection Sheet for your delicious recipes. Please read the instructions on the back of the form carefully. Any family member or former member of Zion may contribute; it would be great if every Zion family is represented in the cookbook. A decorated box will be in the narthex June 6 to receive your recipes, or you may mail them to the church. Extra copies of the Recipe Collection Sheet will be stacked by the box. The deadline for recipes to be in is JUNE 20.
This cookbook is being done to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the church in 2011. The proceeds will be used for congregational projects. Thank you so much for participating!
 

Family Fun Nite

People of all ages are invited to join us for family fun on Sunday, April 25 from 4-6 PM.  We have rented the Saddlebrook Community Center and have planned activities for all ages.  The Saddlebrook Community Center is just a couple blocks southwest of the church.

Marty Party - A Family Event

This year's Marty Party will be held Sunday, Nov 1 at 3:30 PM at the Christensen Farm.  We will do fun activities such as hayrack rides, crafts, roasting marshmallows and hotdogs around a bonfire, hot apple cider and hot chocolate, and fun games for all the family.  Maybe even Martin Luther will join us for a story!  Please bring seating for your family and dress to be outside.  To help us plan, please sign up your family on the sign up board, found downstairs in the church.

Rake it Out, A Human Care Event

Please join approximately 500 fellow LCMS Lutherans raking the yards of about 100 homes where owners are no longer able to rake their own yards.  Meet at St. Mark's, 90th and Blondo, on Sunday, November 8 at 1:00 PM.  Bring a yard rake.  "Rake It Out" is the initial metro-wide event of Walking Together Lutheran Ministries, a shared ministry of outreach and human care among the LCMS congregations of Omaha.  For more information or to sign up to participate, contact Pastor Steve Bartelt or email walkingtogetheromaha@yahoo.com.
